The Zafira is a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), but the current third generation model, launched in 2011 is classified as a large MPV. It is largely based on the popular Vauxhall Astra and gained a five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating, making it an extremely safe vehicle to carry you and your family.
Interior and equipment
Up front, the Zafira has a good driving position and visability is excellent. The dashboard is clear and easy to use and the cabin has a quality feel to it. It will seat 7 people in comfort, thanks to its clever and practical Flex 7 seating system, that allows the two third-row seats to fold away into the floor when they are not needed. There’s quite a high level of equipment availble too, with even entry-level Zafiras getting things like a DAB digital radio, alloy wheels, air-con and cruise control.
Performance and handling
Engines across the range are generally very good and will suit most people, they offer plenty of power and fuel economy is very good. On the road the Zafira offers a smooth driving experience, bumps and potholes are soaked up very nicely and although it’s not considered sporty, there’s limited body roll and plenty of grip when cornering, while the steering has a precise and direct feel.
